recognition

Lately I've been feeling badly about how quickly (and with out any pomp and circumstance) we left San Diego when Sam finished his degree. Since UCSD only does graduate school graduation once per year, in June (and you have to have defended and been all signed off on your work before you can participate), Sam did not get to participate in his own graduation. No photo ops with big colorful robes and bright diploma. It was a huge accomplishment, but was kind of lost in the craziness that was our life as we had a baby and moved across the country. So, I'm not trying to brag, but I would like to say I am so proud of the work he's done. Here's a little highlight from what he accomplished.

What we should do is plan a huge party (you know in five years when we can all afford it) and celebrate what all of these incredibly guys have done. Glad you guys are doing well!

Very cool. I read the "highlight" and even though I've had cell biology it really hurt my brain to try and understand all of that proteomics stuff.

Hi Mollie! I think you can brag all you want since it is your blog :). But actually I don't think you are bragging because of course you are proud of Sam and his accomplishment! I can't believe all that craziness was almost a year ago already...

I know what you mean. At then end of June Bill finished seven years of medical training (in addition to 4 years of medical school). All we had was a dinner in a courtyard at the cancer center. Bill almost forgot to tell me about the dinner, I had invited someone else over that night and had to cancel last minute. Maybe I should have thrown him a party but I just haven't felt up to it.

You should be proud. I'm sorry you missed the pomp and circumstance. Clint was happy to avoid it, but he doesn't seem to realize that the ceremony is a community event, for family and friends as much as it is for the graduates. So I'm glad you're posting this now--so I have a chance to tell you congratulations and good job.
